imgresunnamedAnother notch in their belt – Expressive Solutions latest app – ArtikPix Levels Plus

Expressive Solutions has added to their collection of speech and language apps with the newest ArtikPix Levels Plus. This articulation app moves away from the symbol set images that they have used with ArtikPix Full and uses beautiful photographs. A couple of recent updates have made it even better with the ability to export student scores to PDF and print, as well as an all new information screen with sound production tips, a sound development chart and help guides. I always appreciate a built-in help guide on an app!

ArtikPix Levels Plus is a multi user (up to eight) articulation app that can target multiple phonemes for students and clients. The app provides threeactivities for engaging students and clients; Flashcards, Matching and Pick or Spin using any one or more of the 24 phoneme decks.

unnamed-2Expressive Solutions has gone above and beyond with the ability to customize the decks by phoneme and choosing to work at the word, phrase, sentence or paragraph level. The word, phrase, and sentence levels have a read aloud option with clean crisp professional narration. The paragraph level is meant to have the students or clients read aloud themselves. Further customization allows for choosing syllable lengths of one, two, three, four or more for words within the phoneme decks. The matching option offers three challenges; Easy (3 pairs), Medium (6 pairs) or Hard (10 pairs). The ability to customize to any student or clients ability level is amazing. Another spectacular feature within the app is the video and audio recording for both self-monitoring and immediate feedback for the user.

I particularly appreciate the “create custom card” feature. Here you can choose a photograph from your personal photo library or something from the internet, enter a corresponding word, sentence, phrase or paragraph and choose the target phoneme. Just awesome and so much fun if you involve the students by letting them take photos of items and objects in their environment for the sound(s) they are working on. Each custom deck can be assigned a name for a topic (Johnny’s favorites).

Data collection and tallying are a snap with ArtikPix Levels when it’s automatically presented in a percentage-based format. One of the brilliant features that Expressive Solutions has embedded into their apps is the ability to be able to quickly adjust tallying mistakes with just a tap of a finger on the numbers displayed at the bottom. This has come in handy many times when times when little student fingers get in the way and decide to take control of scoring!

ArtikPix-Levels_84_84_gray_borderExpressive Solutions also offers the FREE ArtikPix Levels app, which includes ‘th’ for FREE and IAP options to purchase all 24 decks at one time or individually as needed. Being able to purchase individually allows for students and clients to the app onto a personal iPad and practice at home. What therapist or teacher doesn’t love when there is carryover!

ArtikPix Levels Plus is a great app to provide all you need for artic therapy. The beautiful photographs are a nice change from the symbol set images used in ArtikPixFull, also developed by Expressive Solutions. I highly recommend ArtikPix Levels Plus for meeting the needs of your students and clients.
