Twitter, Here We Come!
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the apps you use in your classroom or speak with an app developer? Ever wanted to dig deep and learn everything there were was to know about an app? Want to talk to like-minded individuals who love apps as much as you do? Follow us on Twitter!
If the answer to any of these questions is, "YES!" Then the new TWA Twitter Chat is for you! The weekly chat (which has previously taken place on Facebook and called EDAppTalk) will take place Thursdays, at 9:00 PM EST. Topics will include conversations with app developers, information about brand new apps, ways to use apps to their fullest potential in classrooms, and chances to talk with other people who share your passions about apps. To find the chat, use #TWA.
TWA's Twitter Chat will use the same format as many educational chats. Questions will be posted in Q1, Q2, and Q3 format. If you choose to answer these questions or add comments to these questions, please begin your tweet with A1, A2, or A3. An open discussion will follow the Q&A session in which participants can continue the dialogue in a more relaxed format.
In order to follow the chat, in the easiest way possible, Teachers With Apps recommends using one of two services: TweetChat or TweetDeck. Both services are web-based and sync with Twitter.
- Tweet Chat allows the user to follow only one hashtag at a time, resulting in a very clearly defined, easy-to-read and an easy-to-follow chart. To use it, simply go to tweetchat.com and type in #TWA. Then, log in with your Twitter credentials This will allow you to only see tweets with #TWA and it will automatically add #TWA to all tweets made in the session. We look forward to beginning this adventure. Please join us each Thursday at 9:00 PM EST.
- TweetDeck allows individuals to create columns in their Twitter feed. Simply go to tweetdeck.com. Add a column and choose the hashtag option. Type #TWA. Tweetdeck will automatically add a column where only tweets with #twa will appear. I use Tweetdeck for my own personal Twitter account. I have created columns for notifications and for both my professional and personal Twitter accounts, making it extraordinarily easy to see everything I need to see immediately.
We look forward to beginning this adventure. Please join us this Thursday at 9:00 PM EST for our official KICKOFF
