Have you ever been in a position where you had to cover for a regular education teacher in the classroom or maybe you work as a student teacher or specialist? I’m sure many of us have found ourselves in a position where we could really use a quick lesson plan that is ready to go with little preparatory effort. Then, Teacher Rescue to the rescue! This handy app for your iPhone or iPad allows you to select a grade level from Kindergarten through sixth, and then chose any of the following ten subject areas: art, behavioral strategies, drama, indoor games, keep busy activities, music, numeracy, reading, sport/ outdoor games, or writing.
After you select the grade and topic choice, you are shown some brief summaries of at least a half dozen activities. You can view further details by selecting a summary. No need to worry about running to a copier or hunting down obscure art materials because all the plans in this app contain easy to find resources in the classroom. Plus, you won’t need individual papers for each student because the activities are not designed for paper and pencil work.
Personally, I think this app would come in handy for me not only as a speech therapist looking for some new ideas for rhyming, but also when I put on some of my other hats like summer bible school activities volunteer or religious education classroom instructor. Teacher Rescue would be a great option in these circumstances if I should need a keep busy activity for summer camp participants that have finished the tasks at our station before time is up. Behavioral strategies may be useful for our busy group of first graders during religious education classes! Finally, indoor games could be an asset for parents hosting a birthday party or holiday event with a group of kids.
