iconEek, Eek!  Shmootz™ is at it again! Neale Godfrey, New York Times #1 best-selling author and leading expert on family finance, today announced the latest installment to the Green$treets franchise -- Shmootz Happens!  This innovative, free iOS app takes kids to new heights during gameplay by introducing the magic of Augmented Reality to never-before-seen areas within the Green$treet Commons community.

“We designed Shmootz™, our lovable, slobby star of the Green$treet Kids, as a metaphor for the stuff in life that needs to be cleaned up,” said Neale Godfrey, CEO of Green$treets.  “I’m excited to take the fun and real life financial literacy lessons to the next level and can’t wait for our fans to see Shmootz Happens!  He steals the title in our latest installment because now more than ever, we need to clean up the Shmootz™.  The new games we’ve added just might help get our kids on track to do so.”

Ms. Godfrey teamed up with Panasonic and HP Autonomy’s augmented reality platform, Aurasma, to deliver incredible new content to continue her mission to teach tomorrow’s generation how to be financially healthy and ecologically responsible.

“Panasonic is extremely pleased to be the first corporate sponsor of this innovative eco-educational game.  Environmental education for our children is crucial to achieving the environmentally sustainable society that Panasonic envisions and strives for in our everyday business activities (  It is Panasonic’s goal to make eco-educational materials available to 500,000 children and Green$treets is a great way to help meet that target,” said David Thompson, Director of Panasonic’s Corporate Environmental Department.

Since the inception of Green$treets, Ms. Godfrey has stressed the importance of bringing virtual game play into real life lessons. “Aurasma’s innovative technology platform,” Ms. Godfrey said, “allows the further blending of the virtual and real worlds.” Aurasma’s image and pattern recognition brings real world images and objects to digital life – this augmented reality experience is known as an Aura.  See the magic:

In conjunction with the launch of Shmootz Happens!, Ms. Godfrey introduces a series of workbooks and job-cards, available on her website,, that integrate with the app and utilized the magic of Aurasma.  Perfect for use by parents and educators; when the game is open, simply hold the device over certain images in the workbooks to see them come to life on the screen. Even use the technology to give children in-game advantages for real-life accomplishments, like completing a chore at home.  Shmootz Happens! is the first app of its kind to allow such integration.

“The Green$treets apps Unleash the Loot! and Shmootz Happens! have been wildly popular on the Fingerprint network with kids and parents, with more than 100,000 downloads,” said Nancy MacIntyre, CEO of Fingerprint -- a first-of-its-kind mobile learn and play network with multiplayer and safe social features.  “Shmootz Happens! delivers real-world financial lessons wrapped in an eco-fun game where being ‘green’ is both good for the wallet and for the Earth.”

Unleash the Loot!, the first game in the Green$treets franchise - which also quickly hit #1 in the Educational Game category – teaches kids that in order to rescue ‘endangered’ animals kids have to first build a budget by earning money via gameplay.   Shmootz Happens! offers kids even more lovable animals to budget for rescue. Kids can even receive an in-game postcard from their rescued animal.  The new minigames introduce fun financial and ecological lessons, including the basics of credit cards, insurance, recycling, and energy saving.
