The Prisoner of Carrot Castle

mzl.agbxjrgdThe Prisoner of Carrot Castle - The Veggie Chronicles, by Purple Carrot Books, is imagination at it’s best by author Chris Pedersen and illustrator Kate Jeong.  Follow Aidan through his dinnertime journey and the magic of carrots and broccoli!  A royal adventure brings a caped little boy face to face with the King of Carrot Castle.  Incredibly detailed and gorgeous illustrations will have you experiencing the emotion of Aidan’s quest and allow for a discussion of perspective taking.  A wonderful story for predicting what will become of this imaginative little boy.  The vivid descriptive language will expand the reader’s vocabulary.  This is an excellent storybook app to use for broadening and teaching adjectives. First The end of the story brings a nice surprise to dress up a knight in a paper doll type fashion. second Visit to get fun activities to pair with the story.  Look for a future curriculum download that is aligned with the Common Core Standards and Bloom’s Taxonomy. What I would like to see in a future update is a page for the curriculum along with an option to choose a specific page to read or work from.  A double tap for increasing the text size would also be a benefit.  The clever ‘carrot button’ to move forward or back a page is a nice feature of this app and makes it stand out from the typical page-turning ‘arrow button’. Follow Aidan through his dinnertime journey and the magic of carrots and broccoli! third   About the Author -1Jackie Bryla is a school based SLPA in California. 1. We now have Common Core State Standards (CCSS) aligned curriculum for The Prisoner of Carrot Castle. On the latest update (live on the App Store this week) there is a static link on the Credits [C] screen that is easily copied (by tapping the link) and pasted to a browser to find the curriculum.
