Are You My Friend? A Raymond and Sheila Story

Are You My Friend? - An iBook Written by internationally known children's author and anti-bullying activist Annie Fox and Illustrated by Academy Award nominee Eli Noyes; brought to you by Electric Eggplant. Raymond Alligator is a super smart, super shy 5-year-old who feels left out when big sister Sheila has a friend over. He and his teddy bear are tighter than tight, but lately, Raymond’s wondering if he needs someone else to be his friend. Making a new friend sounds like a great idea but, well, it can also be kinda scary. Are You My Friend? (first of the Raymond and Sheila Stories) is a story for the heart and the funny bone, sure to resonate with typical 4-8-year-olds, kids with special needs as well as reluctant readers. It's a spot-on, funny digital picture book sure to draw in every kid (and adult) who has ever longed to peek over the neighbor’s fence and bust out of their comfort zone. Whimsically illustrated, the story features music and sound effects with read-to-me audio narration. It also includes a unique guide for parents, teachers, and counselors to help their kids increase friendship skills and social and emotional learning. The Are You My Friend? iBook is available for download on the iTunes iBookstore for $4.99 USD. FROM THE AUTHOR: “I’ve been answering email from kids around the world since 1997,” says Fox, also a respected parent educator. “For children of any age, nothing matters more than having friends they can trust. Parents do a great job teaching toddlers to ‘be nice.’ But as friendship conflicts become more complex, kids are left to figure things out on their own. The results don’t often lead to constructive learning. By telling an engaging story about kids being kids, complete with a set of positive messages, readers can learn something about what it takes to have a friend and to be a real friend to yourself and others.” ABOUT THE SERIES: Raymond and Sheila Stories offer big adventures for 4-8-year-olds. Each book centers 4-8-year-olds bond between a quietly observant little brother and his big-time dramatic sister as they get into and out of hilarious predicaments. What’s up with Raymond and Sheila? Actually they’re your typical young alligators just trying to answer life’s biggest questions. Keep an eye out for more books coming out in this series. Bravo to Annie Fox and Electric Eggplant! UPDATE: Are You My Friend is now available in Spanish!

Since we get both perspectives – one from Raymond and what he felt like being lost and one from Sheila, on how she endured Raymond being lost. The end of the book gives you a friendly outline of what conversations you might pursue and guide your children with. This is the second book in the series starring Sheila and Raymond.
