In Toca Nature by Toca Boca, build a habitat for bear, fox, rabbit, deer, birds and beavers. The user will enjoy a ‘minecraft’-like creative experience. Create snowcapped mountains, lakes, forests and rivers for the forest creatures to explore and enjoy. Watch berries, mushrooms and other items grow in your habitat to sustain the life of your four-legged and feathered friends. Become in-tune with nature and the wildlife and provide just what is needed for them to grow and enjoy the habitat you have created for them. Toca Nature gives you a clean slate each time the user enters the app. Use the various icons to create specific forests and add trees that are just right for each type of creature. Create lakes and rivers for the beavers and be on the look out for little fish to appear. Take some time to explore your habitat and collect some needed food for your animals; mushrooms, red and blue berries, acorns, or fish. Spend some time observing your animals and feed them just what they want….you’ll know by the little thought bubble that contains the food icon.Toca Nature provides soothing and relaxing background music in the form of calming chimes and tones to set just the right atmosphere for your habitat creativity session. There are no boundaries or guidelines to create a beautiful original habitat time and time again. I do wish there was an option to save a habitat and also an option for multiple users. I used this app with some students at school and they were hoping to be able to come back and add to their creations. One way to get around that is to screen shot the current creative session and come back another day and try to recreate it from the picture. I have had so much fun introducing Toca Nature to my students as well as exploring it myself. I highly recommend this latest Toca Boca free play app. Use it with your children or students and take some time to expand learning by visiting local wildlife areas. Use play opportunities to discuss categories of animals, foods, habitats, tree types and more! Take your iPad along for the car ride and on the way home try to create a forest for birds. Once again Toca Boca does not disappoint with fun creative errorless play! This is a must for your nature lover! About the Author Jackie Bryla is a school based SLPA in California.
